                                                                                                                       What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage?

This is a technique developed by Dr. Vodder to encourage the natural healing process within the human body by stimulating lymphatic vessels, thus increasing lymph flow.

What does the lymphatic system do?

The lymphatic system is the body’s transport system for waste, nutrients and excessive tissue fluid.

It encourages the body to drain excess fluid, therefore the appearance of cellulite or puffy eyes can be improved, it can help to reduce swellings caused by arthritis or rheumatism, as well as to assist to balance the hormonal fluctuations which helps to reduce water retention.

Possible symptoms of a sluggish lymphatic system?

·     abnormally tired and lethargic

·     constant infections

·     skin disorders

MLD is particularly effective on varying skin conditions such as acne or eczema.

Why is MLD different to massage?

·     if you have an intensive treatment course the improvement in the lymphatic system is likely to be longer lasting

·     the therapy works by using light skin movement to encourage the Initial Lymph Vessels (ILVs) to open more widely

·     no oils or massage mediums are used

·     we always work toward the related lymph node

Why do I need this treatment?

Unlike the circulatory system, the lymphatic system does not have a pump. The lymph fluid can become thick and treacle like, which hinders circulation, MLD will encourage lymph fluid to flow more efficiently by increasing the fluid in the circulation causing it to thin to a more watery consistency.

What are the benefits of MLD?

The treatment is extremely relaxing and energising and can have significant effects on a varying number of conditions such as sinus problems, IBS, hormonal imbalances as well as reducing water retention.

It can also help to reduce allergic reactions such as hayfever

MLD can be used before routine surgery.

If this change is to be longer lasting then initially the treatment needs to be repeated several times over a short period.  It is recommended that a minimum of 6 treatments within 14 days.  After the intensive course, sessions can be booked when required.

                                                                                                        How much does it cost?

The cost for 1 hour session            - £40
